The industry accredited Advanced Certificate in Xero provides students a detailed overview of core Xero accounting functionality.
Delivered by The Career Academy (an IAB Accredited Training Provider and Xero Education Partner with Xero Learn), this course is ideal for individuals seeking an intermediatory introductory Xero course covering topics including payables, receivables, fixed assets and projects and expenses.
Developed in conjunction with Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) and members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA), this short course contains specialist Xero study modules including:
- Basic introductory overview of Xero
- Xero chart of accounts, sales, invoicing, quotes and inventory
- Management of fixed assets in Xero
- Report preparation and analysis in Xero
- Projects and Expenses in Xero
On completion of enrolment, students will receive a free 12-month student membership to the Institute of Public Accountants.
The Advanced Certificate in Xero short course can also be combined with multiple Mentor Education Accounting and Bookkeeping qualifications including the FNS40217 – Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping and is accredited by the International Association of Accounting Professionals
Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive the Advanced Certificate in Xero.
Students completing this course will gain 15 CPD hours on completion (CPD Certification Service).
This short course is not VET (Vocational Education and Training) accredited, but can be completed alongside a VET nationally recognised qualification.

Entry requirements
Whilst this is an online course, students considering undertaking this course must be based in Australia.
There are no prerequisites for this course, however, we recommend students completed the Certificate in Xero prior to undertaking this short course if they have not worked previously as a bookkeeper or accountant.
We also recommend that students undertaking this course:
- Are over 18 years of age at the time of commencement
- Have successfully completed a year 12 certificate or equivalent
- Have a strong grasp of computer/technical skills
- Microsoft Office (or freeware equivalent) installed on their computer
- Access to a reliable high-quality internet connection
- Adequate literacy/numeracy skills

Students with no formal qualifications seeking to undertake a Nationally recognised course of study should strongly consider enrolling into a Certificate IV or Diploma based accounting and bookkeeping qualification alongside undertaking this course.
