Limitations and Alternations

Despite Mentor Education’s best efforts to ensure accessibility of it’s website, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations. Please contact us if you find an issue that is not listed below.

Known Limitations:

  1. Missing form labels: Some forms may not have a properly associated text label. This means that the function or purpose of the form control may not be presented to screen read users.
  2. Empty links: Logos of associated publications and journals on the homepage contain no text. This means the function or purpose of the link will not be presented to the user. This may cause confusion for keyboard and screen reader users.
  3. Alternative text: Some alternative text used on images is the same as nearby or adjacent text. This means that the text will be presented multiple times to screen readers or when images are unavailable.
  4. Skipped heading level: There appears to be a skipped heading level on the footer of the homepage. Users of assistive technology may be confused or experience difficulty navigating when heading levels are skipped.
  5. Redundant links: Some adjacent links go to the same URL. This results in additional navigation and repetition for keyboard and screen reader users.
  6. Noscript element: The website features elements on the header and footer of the web pages. This means they cannot be used to provide an accessible version of inaccessible scripted content. However, these noscript elements feature no text or images and are used as a design boundary or the pages content.
  7. Very low contrast: Currently in some parts of the website there is very low contrast between the foreground and background colours resulting in failure to meet WCA Level AA. We understand that adequate contrast is necessary for all users, especially users with low vision. This will be rectified in the upcoming website update.

Assessment of Accessibility

Mentor Education has a small team of staff from different departments who ensue accessibility is met and assess the accessibility of the website and other documentation/collateral.
